Online Teaching and Learning 101 is grounded in the CoI concept of ‘social presence,’ which refers to the ability of learners and teachers to project themselves as real persons into a learning environment. Participants will create strategies  to increase their own social presence and explore opportunities  to encourage students to do the same.

Intended Learning Outcomes

After successfully completing this course, you will be able to:

  1. identify factors or considerations impacting  student engagement and retention in distance learning environments.
  2. create and implement strategies to maximize student engagement in distance learning courses.
  3. design and develop a media rich environment to support and enhance the social presence in your courses.
  4. monitor your progress towards the achievement of  your goals to improve and enhance the social presence in your courses.
